One of India’s most noted environmentalist, Saalumarada Timmakka is renowned for her endeavor in planting and tending to 384 banyan trees along a stretch of 4-km on the Hulikal-Kudur highway. Needless to say, her zeal of giving back to the environment has received a lot of accolades, including being honored with the National Citizen’s Award of India and having a US environmental organization being named after her Thimmakka’s Resources for Environmental Education.
