Atalji had a million-dollar reply when Congress said RSS would never make him the PM

If there was ever any Prime Minister before PM Modi, who could be termed as a leader of the commoners, it would be one and only Atal Bihari Vajpayee. A man of many words, Atal Bihari Vajpayee had been one of the prime forces behind India’s development – and notably, the first head of the Indian government outside the Congress party to have served his full term.

Although Atalji had been aloof from the active political scenario for quite sometime, the place which he had carved out in people’s heart remained intact forever. The best part about him was despite being from RSS/BJP, he did not shy away from appreciating the best in people belonging to other parties. Once he had even publicly thanked former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi for saving him by getting his kidney treatment done at the right time. That was Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

However, Congress never really had much flowery words to convey to him. In fact, Congress party had once predicted that even if BJP wins the election, RSS would never allow Vajpayee to become the Prime Minister of the country. Recapitulating the same event was Vajpayee seen at an “Aap ki Adaalat” episode. Held a few days after Vajpayee’s first stint as the Prime Minister – which lasted for about 13 days – Atalji talked about how he proved the Congress wrong. He also highlighted numerous important socio-political issues that needed to be talked about back then.

Here’s presenting a video snippet from the interview wherein Atalji responds to a statement made by the then Congress President, elaborating how Atalji would never be able to become a Prime Minister. Please watch the video here –

It may be noted that Atal Bihari Vajpayee left for his heavenly abode yesterday at 17:05 hrs. He was admitted in the AIIMS for the past couple of months. Although his condition was stable for nine weeks straight, it deteriorated in the last three days, which led the team of doctors put him under life support.
